IMPORTANCE OF PEDAGOGICAL MEDIATION WITHIN THE CULTURE OF PEACE BASED ON CITIZENSHIP VALUES IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Colombia has historically been marked by the scars of war and conflict which threatens the peace of citizens; a reality that despite the time is still present in the new generations that have inherited patterns manifested in social representations that are far from citizen values with implications in the healthy peace and coexistence both at school and in society. From this socio-educational vision emerges the initiative to develop an academic text configured in an article as a descriptive essay where the main objective is proposed: interpret the importance of pedagogical mediation within the culture of peace from the citizen values in basic secondary school. For this purpose, a methodology based on documentary review and analysis was established in order to explore various experiences on the subject and thus reach a level of dissertation from the reflective and analytical contextualized with the Colombian educational, cultural and social reality. This led to the following conclusions: The events that have occurred in Colombian society for more than 60 years, today are reflected in educational institutions through the altered behavior and inadequate conduct of students at different levels, which has its implications in citizen coexistence. The decontextualization of civic values that is manifested in intolerance, lack of respect and conflict between social groups is notable. The pedagogical mediation oriented to a culture of peace in the interest of strengthening citizen values is indispensable in all official educational institutions, as the efforts on the part of the MEN to project the culture of peace chair established through Decree 1038 of 2015 are recognized; however this initiative is insufficient in the face of the culture of conflict established in Colombian society.
