Abstract

This study analyzed the transition from everyday language to algebraic language in elementary education to address challenges in the development of logical and procedural thinking. The objective was to assess the disconnect between the curriculum and student performance through an active methodological approach. The research adopted a qualitative, interpretive approach, using a pedagogical intervention design. Data collection was carried out through a reflection and operational diagnosis workshop structured into consecutive phases, including individual connective coding, cooperative semantic confrontation, and institutional metacognitive plenary sessions. The results showed that fostering peer debate and the organic conversion between registers made it possible to transform error into a conscious object of study, thereby eliminating punitive grading. It was concluded that implementing this strategy restored the rationality of school mathematics and consolidated algebra as a tool for simplifying the environment.
