Artificial intelligence (AI) has been transformed contemporary educational systems, leading changes in teaching and learning processes and redefining the teacher's role. The aim of this study is to analyze critically the scientific literature the teacher's role in the AI era, identifying trends, challenges, and opportunities. To this end, a systematic literature review was conducted using databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, Dialnet, and Google Scholar, considering publications from 2015 to 2026. Inclusion criteria focused on peer-reviewed studies on artificial intelligence in education. The results reveal a shift in the teacher's role from transmitter to knowledge to facilitator, technology mediator, and designer of personalized learning experiences. Challenges related to teacher training, ethical data use, the digital divide, the risk of dehumanization in the educational process, and technological dependence are also identified. It is concluded that AI does not replace teachers, but rather requires a redefinition of their professional competencies, prioritizing critical thinking, socio-emotional learning, and techno-pedagogical design. It is recommended that teacher training be strengthened and that empirical research be promoted to evaluate the real impact of AI in diverse educational contexts, especially in high school.
