Technological advances and the growing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) tools transformed the production, analysis, and dissemination of knowledge, while also creating risks related to scientific integrity, authorship, bias, and data protection. The objective of this article was to analyze the ethical principles that should guide researchers in the use of AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) throughout the research process. A systematized documentary review of 19 academic, institutional, and regulatory sources, mainly published between 2022 and 2026, was conducted. The sources were retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, Google Scholar, Dialnet, Redalyc, and SciELO. Relevant peer-reviewed documents and materials issued by recognized organizations were included, whereas non-scholarly publications without scientific support were excluded. The information was organized in a documentary analysis matrix and examined through thematic and comparative analysis. The findings identified transparency, responsibility, autonomy, fairness and justice, privacy, data protection, and regulatory compliance as the central principles. Human oversight, traceability, and disclosure of AI use were also found to be essential conditions for preserving the validity and reproducibility of research findings. It was concluded that AI is a supporting resource, while authorship, verification, and ethical responsibility remain with the researcher.
