Abstract

This research analyzes teachers' perspectives on the integration of Learning and Knowledge Technologies (LKT) and Empowerment and Participation Technologies (EPT) in their teaching practice. The study is framed within the Educational Technology and Educational Research lines of UPEL (Popular University of El Salvador), recognizing the need to move beyond the instrumental use of digital tools toward genuine social and pedagogical appropriation. Methodologically, it adopts a qualitative paradigm with a phenomenological approach, employing in-depth interviews as the primary technique. The study encompasses two educational institutions where the experiences of the teaching staff are explored. The findings are expected to identify critical issues in technological training and attitudinal gaps that hinder innovation. The findings revealed structural barriers due to precarious connectivity and debunked the myth of the digital native's competence, highlighting functional illiteracy and student resistance. The results demonstrate that, given a positive affective evaluation of ICTs, the actual transition to ICTs requires resilient practice and the development of critical skills. In conclusion, a theoretical construct was generated that guides educational transformation from a critical and humanized perspective of technology, moving beyond a purely technical view to one focused on citizen participation and collaborative learning.
