Abstract

The Garden of Emotions, a pedagogical proposal developed in 2023 at the Megacolegio El Progreso Educational Institution in the city of Yopal, aimed to strengthen socio-emotional skills in fifth-grade students to improve school coexistence. This initiative focused on enhancing educational processes by reinforcing learning and promoting socio-emotional development. It sought to create an effective educational environment where students not only acquired academic knowledge but also developed essential skills for their social and personal lives. This article aims to share the meaningful and formative experience of the proposal, highlighting its contribution to both academic and behavioral aspects in primary school students. The methodological development was implemented through a didactic sequence in three phases: (1) exploration and collective construction of a symbolic garden mural; (2) implementation of six didactic workshops based on emotional competencies; and (3) awareness sessions with parents to strengthen support from home. Additionally, the project was aligned with the Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach, a methodology used by the educational institution alongside its sociocultural focus.
