Abstract

This article presents a research report whose objective was to determine whether the use of an immersive learning strategy with Augmented Reality (AR) strengthens the development of competencies in natural sciences. A mixed methodology was implemented, consisting of tests, semi-structured interviews, and direct observation of students in grade 601 at the Gabriel Betancourt Mejía School in Bogotá. The results obtained from standardized tests administered before and after the pedagogical intervention demonstrated a positive correlation between the use of the pedagogical strategy and the scores obtained on the natural science tests, thus validating the importance of incorporating disruptive technologies such as AR in the classroom. Furthermore, among the main findings, the need to implement immersive learning tools as dynamic agents in natural science classes stands out, given that these tools not only strengthen basic competencies such as inquiry, explanation of phenomena, and the comprehensive use of scientific knowledge, but also promote more participatory learning environments.
