EVALUATIVE RESEARCH: A STRATEGY FOR THE ANALYSIS OF THE EVALUATION PROCESS AT THE GENERAL SECONDARY EDUCATION LEVEL.

Abstract

Evaluation in the field of education is a crucial issue. That is why this article was written with the following general purpose: to reflect on evaluative research as a strategy for analyzing the evaluation process at the general secondary level of Venezuelan education. In addition, it sought to describe the context of evaluation and evaluative research, as well as to develop a conceptual approach to the terms evaluation and evaluative research. Finally, it sought to generate conclusions about the applicability of evaluative research in the analysis of the evaluation process. In this vein, the methodology used was inserted into the documentary analysis of the subject matter. In conclusion, the study found that evaluation in Venezuelan schools currently continues to maintain characteristics of previous models, in which assessment processes are used as a means of accrediting learning through traditional tests to evaluate the final product. In this regard, it was found that the current situation in the general secondary education assessment plan warrants the application of evaluative research that engages all stakeholders interested in transforming the educational reality, using critical reflection situations with innovative, continuous, rigorous, and multidirectional assessment methods that facilitate participation and action in decision-making. Finally, it is possible to point out that there are valuable elements that make evaluative research a scientific tool with characteristics that are ideal for obtaining information about the evaluation process carried out at the aforementioned level.
