IMPACT OF SCHOOL COEXISTENCE ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

Abstract

An innovative approach to mediating conflicts among students has emerged from school coexistence, focusing specifically on improving interpersonal relationships. This plays an important role in students' academic performance by promoting transcendental human values such as respect, empathy, participation, and shared responsibility. Methodologically, the essay was framed as a documentary investigation of theoretical references that account for the conceptualisation of school coexistence and its influence on students' emotional and social states. The thematic development presents the research proposal, theoretical arguments from neuroeducation, the sociological approach, and theoretical evidence from international organisations that have implemented proposals to improve school coexistence for a healthy school life, based on a culture of peace. The information collection technique consisted of electronic and physical materials from peer-reviewed journals and research studies, such as those by UNESCO, UNICEF, and the UN, as background information on the subject of study. It is concluded that greater importance must be given to school coexistence, as it prevents situations of bullying, violence, apathy, and anxiety that can affect socio-emotional well-being and, therefore, negatively affect students' academic performance.
