Abstract

This essay analyzes the structural tension between Paulo Freire's liberating pedagogical ideal and the neoliberal educational policies implemented in Colombia. Starting from the constitutional recognition of ethnic and cultural diversity (Article 7, 1991 Political Constitution) and the aims of education (Law 115 of 1994), it explores how the Colombian educational system paradoxically reproduces mechanisms of domination and cultural homogenization. It argues that education, conceived as a practice of freedom, is subverted by market forces that prioritize productivity over critical civic education. Through documentary and reflective analysis, discursive fallacies, adverse working conditions for teachers, and processes of acculturation are identified. Finally, critical constructivism is proposed as an alternative to redefine the school as a space for autonomy and social transformation.
